First Friday Event Ever at Rochester Design Center Roc
Aug 27, 2016
Hello, Rochester Design Center Roc! It’s time to get ready for the first ever, FIRST FRIDAY EVENT on September 2, 2016 (#MarkYourCalendarsPeople). What is a First Friday Event? We’re so glad you asked! It’s everything and anything you can imagine. Oh, dear reader, you know us well enough by now to know that some ideas are so beyond definition! (Remember, we’re the furniture store that really is a lifestyle store.) We’ll have cooking demonstrations, poetry readings, musicians and more. If it celebrates life and culture, it’s in the realm of possibility so be sure to contact us with your ideas!
In the meantime, we are over the moon excited to introduce local artist, Jodie Richardson Traugott of jmART and her gorgeous work, as our premiere First Friday Event. Honestly, you have never seen anything like her art unless you’ve seen her art somewhere before or her granddaughter, Arianna. Perhaps a little background will help explain:
Fine Art and family have been core elements throughout Jodie’s life and her granddaughter Arianna (nicknamed Nana) her muse, features prominently in her work. A true renaissance-type artist, however, she currently uses her creative vision in a variety of artistic mediums, from traditional painting in acrylic, oil, and pastel, to fabric art, photography and digital manipulation. Jodie’s work can be beautiful, disturbing, provocative, calming, and thought provoking. Her creative fusion of media pushes conventional artistic boundaries to present the viewer with Ms. Traugott’s unique perspectives on design and often extreme color, a rainbow palette!
Did you catch that? Her work is “beautiful, disturbing, provocative, calming, and thought provoking.” Yes! Art makes you think and feel and act. Art provides a framework to truly embrace the space you’re in, which is why we are so excited to have Jodie in our space! Here’s a sneak peak at some of her work:
You can see more this coming Friday, so don’t miss it! Let us know you’ll be here! Be sure to visit her work on the fineartamerica.com site and introduce yourself to an amazing world of color, perspective and design! Let the inspiration begin! See you this Friday!
